 Contested 2020 Election

What Should We Do About It?
Potential Voter Fraud
A group called the Transition Integrity Project (TIP) met in D.C. this summer to play out multiple scenarios and plan for the aftermath of what they predict will be a highly contested election. TIP was founded by partisan Democrats Rosa Brooks and Nils Gillman and its meeting was funded by Left-wing billionaire George Soros. Presumably to give the impression of a "bi-partisan" consensus, however, the group invited a handful of "never Trumper" Republicans to participate in its election "war games."

The group's report concluded that Trump or Biden may refuse to accept the outcome of the election. TIP leaders predicted a long, drawn-out, potentially violent struggle to determine who will be president on January 20, 2021, warning:

"Planners need to take seriously the notion that this may well be a street fight,
not a legal battle; technocratic solutions, courts, and a reliance on elites
observing norms are not the answer here" (11).

One of the most alarming scenarios suggested the military may be required to forcibly remove a recalcitrant Trump from office. This idea is reflected in comments made by leading Democrats. For example, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is on the record this year saying, "one way or another" Trump will be removed from office. Other powerful Democrats including Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, and Al Gore have all publicly suggested that the military may need to step in to remove Trump from office (see below).

In the present "post-Truth" crisis of credibility facing America's information channels and major social institutions, it is incredibly difficult for citizens to know who to trust. The purpose of this post is, therefore, to encourage civil debate and critical thinking in a collaborative effort to identify reliable information and plan for what seems likely to be a chaotic aftermath of a contested election.

Relevant Background/Context

(1) Hillary Clinton and the DNC colluded with a foreign entity to secure a dossier used to influence an American election.
(2) The Obama administration then used that dossier as the basis for spying on the Trump campaign, effectively interfering with an American election.
(3) Based on that same dossier, with tireless support from useful idiots in the media, Democrats accused Trump of colluding with a foreign entity to interfere in an American election. Congress wasted millions of dollars and countless work hours investigating his alleged collusion and failed to prove Democrats' allegations.
(4) Democrats then moved on to impeaching Trump for implicitly doing what Biden explicitly did: threatening to withhold aid from a foreign entity for personal gain.
(5) An influential NYT columnist recently suggested the need for foreign intervention in our upcoming election. Will the Democrats run with this idea?

From Sharyl Attkisson at The Hill :

"We continue to get evidence of an orchestrated effort among government insiders and the well-connected to take down President Trump at all costs. The public evidence indicates that the effort was hatched even before he took office... :

Aug. 15, 2016: After FBI counterespionage chief Peter Strzok and FBI attorney Lisa Page met with Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, Strzok texts Page that they couldn’t take the risk of Trump getting elected without having “an insurance policy” in place.

October 2016: Benjamin Wittes, founder of a left-wing liberal blog called “Lawfare” — as in the “use of law as a weapon of conflict” — writes, “What if Trump wins? We need an insurance policy against the unthinkable: Donald Trump’s actually winning the Presidency.” Wittes writes that his vision of an “insurance policy” would rely on a “Coalition of All Democratic Forces” to challenge and obstruct Trump, using the courts as a “tool” and Congress as “a partner or tool.” He even mentions impeachment — two weeks before Trump is elected.

Wittes has acknowledged being a good friend of fired FBI Director James Comey. He spoke to a New York Times reporter about Comey’s interactions with President Trump right after Robert Mueller's appointment as special counsel.

October 2016: The FBI begins a yearlong secret wiretap on Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, which would have allowed intel officials access to information and conversations involving other Trump associates and possibly Trump himself. Page was never charged with any offense. The FBI never apologized for the unwarranted privacy intrusions. The lawfulness of the wiretap has been questioned.

Jan. 3, 2017: Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) publicly warns Trump that if he took on the intelligence community, it has “six ways from Sunday to get back at you.”

Jan. 11, 2017: A Politico investigation concludes that Ukrainian government officials tried to help Hillary Clinton and undermine Trump in the 2016 election with help from a Ukrainian American operative who was consulting for the Democratic National Committee.

Jan. 30, 2017: Days after President Trump takes office, attorney Mark Zaid tweets that a “coup has started” and “impeachment will follow ultimately.” Zaid often deals with government investigations and clients in the intelligence community.

A few months later, still in 2017, Zaid tweets: “I predict @CNN will play a key role in @realDonaldTrump not finishing out his full term as president” and “We will get rid of him, and this country is strong enough to survive even him and his supporters.” Zaid also tweets that “as one falls, two more will take their place” and the “coup” would occur in “many steps.”

Zaid went on to represent the alleged whistleblower in the Trump impeachment effort. (Zaid has stated, in his own defense, that his mention of a “coup” simply referred to what he saw as a lawful attempt by attorneys to remove an unlawful president from office.)

May 17, 2017: Special counsel Robert Mueller begins investigating Trump.

August 2017: Trump critic and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper is hired as an analyst at CNN. He attacks Trump regularly, at times with incorrect information.

Jan. 23, 2018: Former Vice President Joe Biden publicly brags that he got Ukraine to fire its top prosecutor by threatening to withhold U.S. aid. The prosecutor was investigating Burisma, an energy company where Biden’s son had served on the board since 2014, when his father was vice president.

Feb. 1, 2018: Trump critic and former CIA Director John Brennan is hired as an analyst for NBC and MSNBC, where he attacks Trump regularly, at times with incorrect information.

March 22, 2019: The special counsel’s probe ends without concluding that Trump or his associates conspired with Russia, despite what critics such as Brennan and Clapper long had claimed. Democrats are unable to unite on an impeachment push over the findings.

April 2019: Ukraine elects a new president. Former Vice President Biden’s son Hunter Biden steps down from the board of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.

July 25, 2019: President Trump calls the newly elected president of Ukraine and asks for cooperation in a probe involving long-standing corruption in Ukraine along with alleged ties to U.S. Democrats and the 2016 campaign.

Aug. 12, 2019: Someone alleging to be a whistleblower files a complaint about the phone call with the intelligence community’s inspector general. The anonymous person alleges President Trump sought political dirt to use against Biden in 2020 as part of a “quid pro quo.” Quids pro quo aren’t inherently illegal or improper and are, in fact, a key component of most foreign aid. However, the whistleblower claims Trump is improperly withholding military aid from Ukraine for his own political purposes.

Sept. 9, 2019: The inspector general notifies the House Intelligence Committee about the complaint. Although Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) initially denies doing so, it turns out that he and his staff already had met with — or conspired with, depending on your view — the alleged whistleblower.

Sept. 24, 2019: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announces an impeachment inquiry based on the alleged whistleblower’s claims.

On the same date, President Trump releases the transcript of his call with Ukraine’s president. There is no mention of a quid pro quo, political dirt, withholding aid or campaign 2020. Trump’s critics counter that these things were implicit. There is no evidence, however, that Ukraine provided Trump with "dirt” on Biden — a necessary component of an alleged quid pro quo.

Sept. 25, 2019: The president of Ukraine says he did not feel pushed by President Trump to investigate Biden or to take other action.

Oct. 31, 2019: The House approves impeachment process rules. The vote is largely along party lines, with two Democrats siding with Republicans."

Conservative commentator Byron York says Resistance Sees Military Removing Trump From Office

With 80 days left before the presidential election, a new and dangerous rhetoric has emerged from some corners of the Resistance. A number of President Trump's most implacable critics are fantasizing about deploying the U.S. military to remove him from the White House on Jan. 20, 2021, based on their assumption that a.) he will lose the election, and b.) he will refuse to leave office on his own...

In a July 19 appearance on Fox News Sunday, the president was asked, "Can you give a direct answer you will accept the election?" Trump's answer was, "I have to see. I have to see. No, I'm not going to just say yes. I'm not going to say no, and I didn't last time, either…The speculation might have been less fevered had anyone actually noted how Trump has behaved in office. For example, what has Trump, as president, done when a judge tells him to stop doing something? He stops doing it… his conduct in office suggests he will not defy the legally certified result of an election… given heavy voting by mail, the voters' verdict might not be known for weeks… Given the chances of widespread dysfunction in vote tabulation, there is certainly the possibility of a crisis after Nov. 3. But if it happens, it would likely involve the chaos brought on by a deeply divided nation going weeks or months without knowing who the next president will be — not a losing Trump refusing to leave the White House.

Nevertheless, hysterical scenarios are coming from some sources in the Resistance …two retired Army officers, Paul Yingling and John Nagl [said] … "Mr. Trump is following the playbook of dictators throughout history: he is building a private army answerable only to him." … [They] appear to be referring to the president's decision to send Department of Homeland Security officers to Portland, Oregon, to protect the federal courthouse there from rioters. "The members of this private army… exist not to enforce the law but to intimidate the president's political opponents" … the Joint Chiefs chairman must order troops into the streets on Inauguration Day… The Speaker of the House will declare the Trump presidency at an end, and direct the Secret Service and Federal Marshals to remove Trump from the premises. These agents will realize that they are outmanned and outgunned… At this moment of constitutional crisis, only two options remain… U.S. military forces escort the former president from the White House grounds. Trump's little green men… step aside and fade away… [or] the U.S. military remains inert while the Constitution dies. The succession of government is determined by extralegal violence between Trump's private army and street protesters; Black Lives Matter Plaza becomes Tahrir Square." ...

[R]etired Col. Lawrence Wilkerson ... [asked] “what will happen if Trump calls his base to the streets with their guns. His base owns something like 60-70% of the 300, 400 million guns in America. If they answer that call… then we probably are going to have a need for the military. And then, all bets are off as to how much blood might flow." …Wilkerson is part of an anti-Trump group called the Transition Integrity Project… [that] recently made news by holding "war games" to explore some possible election scenarios… The big problem came when … Trump lost the popular vote but won the Electoral College — meaning he won the presidency. But Biden and his Democratic supporters would not accept the election verdict. The transition period was wild. Biden pushed the Democratic governors… to reject the president's electors and substitute Biden electors instead. Democrats encouraged some states to secede … Biden's campaign made wild demands … such as statehood for Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico, and breaking up California to add new Democratic senators. A standoff ensued. Trump had without doubt won the presidency, but Democrats were willing to do virtually anything to keep the president from his second term. Finally, Inauguration Day came with the situation "unresolved." …The suggestion, never made explicit, was that Democrats would seek the military's help in evicting the constitutionally elected president from the White House.

In June, Biden himself raised the possibility of the military removing Trump from office… “I promise you, I am absolutely convinced they will escort him from the White House with great dispatch." … the Resistance… have thrown everything they have at him. Years of investigations. Unprecedented leaks of U.S. intelligence. Media treatment that has been negative beyond measure. … they tried impeachment… That, too, failed… Now, in November, comes the final constitutionally prescribed means of removing the president…

Former V.P. Al Gore says military will remove Trump if he doesn't concede on election night

He seems to have no compunctions at all about trying to rip apart the social fabric and the political equilibrium of the American people, and he’s strategically planting doubts in advance... To try to deprive people who are scared of the pandemic from voting by mail by dismantling the Postal Service - he’s attempting to put his knee on the neck of democracy... It turns out there’s no intermediate step between a final Supreme Court decision and violent revolution.

Left-wing planning for mass insurrection

Insane conspiracy theory or actual conspiracy?

Powerful actors on the Left appear to be paving the way for a coup if President Trump is re-elected or if there is no clear winner on election night. Beginning with the Soros-funded Transition Integrity Project's meeting earlier this summer, powerful people (now joined by CNN) have advanced a narrative that a Biden victory is a foregone conclusion.

They have successfully distracted much of the public's attention from months of civil insurrection and explicit calls for a violent revolution to overthrow America's liberal democratic government. They have aided and abetted Democrats' tireless efforts over the last 4 years to remove him from office on the flimsiest of pretenses.

They are now asserting that he is attempting to undermine the electoral process and may refuse to peacefully vacate the White House. Nancy Pelosi publicly stated that "one way or another" Trump would be removed from office. Hillary Clinton publicly stated that Joe Biden should not concede defeat in the event of a contested election (the very thing Trump said he would not do, which supposedly proved he was a threat to democracy!).

Clinton, Biden, and Al Gore are among Democrat leaders who have publicly declared that the military may have to remove President Trump from office by force. In the context of events over the past 4 years (from Obama's unjustified spying on Trump's campaign and a two-year, $32 million dollar fruitless investigation into his alleged collusion with Russia on the basis of Hillary Clinton and the DNC's discredited foreign dossier, to Trump's impeachment for something Biden is on video bragging about doing, to God knows what else), Trump has voiced warranted concerns that his enemies may undermine the election process.

The latest narrative appears to be an attempt to delegitimize reasonable concerns that the President's enemies will continue their tireless efforts to remove him from office by any means necessary.
